Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is this a recreational program?
While our organization believes in teaching the principals of good sportsmanship, fair play and that winning is secondary to learning--both our football and cheerleading programs are extremely competitive. Each year, the competition gets better and better and our program expects and demands more out of the athletes to keep the North Tampa Titans one of the premier programs in the Tampa Bay area.

What equipment will I need to provide for my football player?
You will need to provide cleats, mouthpiece and practice pants/jersey for your athlete. The North Tampa Titans will provide use of helmet and shoulder pads for the season and a complete game uniform that you will keep.

What equipment will I need to provide for my cheerleader?
Your paid registration fee includes cheer uniform rental for the season (uniform skirt, vest, long-sleeved slimmer), as well as a practice uniform (T-shirt and shorts), cheer shoes, hair bow and cheer bag for your cheerleader to keep.

What commitments are expected of parents during the season?
Each family is required to volunteer for a total of ten (10) hours per family, including two (2) hours of concession stand duty per season. There are also several fundraising opportunities throughout the season, requiring mandatory participation by all families. Families may opt out of volunteer hours with a $200 buy out. Hosting home games at our field will provide numerous opportunities to find something each family enjoys to complete their hours!

How often do the teams practice?
During the season, all teams (football and cheer) practice Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. (Mighty Mite divisions practice Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30PM.

What does my child need for practice?
Your child is expected to arrive on time and ready to begin practice at specified start time each day of practice. Athletes should be fully dressed out in order to be allowed to participate. Team Reach is the app used for communication within the organization. Each age group will have a group within the app where important information will be communicated to players and parents. You will be able to directly message your coach through the app and are expected to notify your coach if you are sick, injured or will be late or miss practice for any reason. Our practice field is located outside--in the elements--kids should bring plenty of water, a towel and bug spray. Also, please be sure to remind your child to use the restroom prior to the beginning of practice.

What happens if it is raining during practice time?
The policy is that your child should show up at the practice field at their designated practice time. If it is currently raining heavily or there is lightning, children should remain in their cars with their parent until notification is given that practice is cancelled. Practice will take place in light rain without lightning. Cancellation of practice is a decision made by the Athletic Director. If practice is cancelled for any reason, notification will be made via Team Reach as soon as possible.

When are games?
All games are played on Saturdays. Mighty Mite games are at 9AM, Peewee games at 1030, Midgets games are at 12 noon. JV games are at 2PM and Varsity games are at 4PM.

Where are games?
We will host 5 home games at our field. The other 5 games will be played at our opponents' fields. The schedule will be posted for the complete season as soon as TCYFCC releases it.

How should my son prepare for a game?
Your son should arrive at the game location 1 1/2 hours prior to scheduled game start with uniform/equipment. Teams must warm up and check in before taking the field. Players should arrive dressed for warm up in full game uniform. No jewelry should be worn. Water will be provided during the game; however, no personal coolers are to be taken on the field. Each Team Parent will coordinate a halftime snack schedule to ensure the boys have a nutritious halftime snack (typically, fruit--like orange wedges or frozen grapes).

How should my daughter prepare for a game?
Your daughter should arrive at the game field as instructed by her coach, usually 1 hour prior to game start time. Your daughter should arrive in her complete game uniform: skirt, vest, bloomers, socks, cheer shoes, bow and cheer bag--which should contain a towel, her filled Titans water bottle and her cover shirt to wear when the game is completed. Each Team Mom will coordinate a halftime snack schedule to ensure the girls have a nutritious halftime snack (typically, fruit--like orange wedges or frozen grapes). A cover shirt should be worn over her uniform or, ideally, a change of clothes should be brought if your daughter will stay at the field for later games.

Is my registration fee refundable?
Refund requests must be submitted to the Athletic Director in writing and shall be considered at the following month's Board Meeting. If equipment was issued to the player or cheerleader, refunds will be based upon the good condition of returned equipment. Generally, refunds are possible if submitted prior to July 1st (less $75.00 deposit, plus a deduction for any personalized item that cannot be reused, given Board approval). No refunds will be issued after the first practice.
